About Lisa David
I came to painting over time. My parents were artists and my older brother and sister chose the same path. I absorbed my surroundings, but was never instructed and never pointedly cared about the art activity around me.
I defiantly chose a different direction, though I was often overcome by color, perspective, and geometry in my everyday life. Travel beyond the U.S. was a quest from a very young age. Finally, I went to Costa Rica at 16. In college, I chose to pursue Russian history, language and literature and went to Russia. I later went on to international business in banking and technology, and then started a home furnishings internet company focused on color and design. Before the Internet bubble burst, I sold it and said, “OK, what do I really want to do?”
With my intuition and experience, and the support of my husband and two great kids, I harnessed my inspiration and entered Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. With all this as a backdrop, I now paint life as I see and feel it.
